On 7 January 2016 while sitting inside his patrol car, Philadelphia, PA Police Officer Jesse J. Hartnett was ambushed and shot multiple times. Though severely injured, Officer Hartnett was able to give chase, subdue, and arrest the perpetrator. Fortunately, Officer Hartnett survived and recovered from his injuries. The suspect was tried & convicted for attempted murder and sentenced to 48-97 years in prison. Prior to becoming a police officer, Officer Hartnett served in the Coast Guard and CG Reserve from 2001 - 2014.
